The Beauty Juice

My Journey:

In the summer of 2019, my skin was as bad as it could get - acne, hyper-pigmentation, dull and textured are only a few in a long list of problems. During my teens, I broke out horribly, as one tends to. A lot of people told me to wait it out and let it pass on its own, however, it just brought on a new wave of insecurity and self-loathing. At the age of 19, I finally consulted a dermatologist who helped me clear my skin. It was a combination of prescribed creams and medication that finally gave me the skin I longed for- acne-free.

Unfortunately, this freedom did not last very long as only a few weeks later the dreadful red spots returned. When I asked the doctor why he simply stated that the core of this problem lies in my health, which was not surprising for an underweight girl like me and he refused to keep me on medication considering my young age. Truth is when I went to the doctor I tried taking the easy way out. After that, I did a lot of research into skincare and started on a regime. This helped a little but it still wasn’t enough. Then a friend who went through a similar ordeal told me to try a mixture of Beetroot, Carrot and Apple aka The Beauty Juice.

About The Beauty Juice: Results

As mentioned above this juice is a heavenly combination Beetroot, Carrot and Apple. This drink helps you get rid of acne and pigmentation and most other skin issues that occur from the inside the body that even a good skincare routine can’t fix.

Just a week into drinking this and the results were visible. My skin was brighter, more glowy and a lot of my acne had calmed down (even though I still had a long way to go) I also noticed the lovely stain this juice would leave on my lips. A month in and I was blown away! This juice had mostly cleared my skin besides some texture and spots. There was a glow on my face and a lot of pigmentation around my body was starting to clear up as well. In three months time, I was a whole new person who looked and felt better health-wise. However, this won’t solve all your problems as I felt the need to keep up my skincare routine.

About the Ingredients:

Apple: As the wise women say; an apple a day keeps the doctor away! This humble fruit is jam packed with vitamins such as A, B1, B2, B6, C, E and K, along with nutrients like Folate, Niacin, Zinc, Copper, Potassium, Manganese and Phosphorus among others.

Beetroots: These are great for your heart and are enriched with nutrients including vitamin A, C, B-complex, iron, potassium, magnesium and copper. They have antioxidants like lycopene and anthocyanins that give this vegetable a deep pink-purple colour that further helps build our immune system and control the growth of bad cholesterol.

Carrots: They contain a wide array of nutrients including vitamins such as vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B6, C, E and K and nutrients such as niacin, folate and pantothenic acid and minerals like phosphorus, calcium, potassium, magnesium and selenium. One of the most important components that make carrots distinct from others is beta-carotene. Our body converts beta-carotene to vitamin A to aid the functioning of the eyes and the immune system. Vitamin A helps in flushing out the toxins from the body and reduces bile and fat from the liver.

All these ingredients combined help in the detoxification of vital organs and promote blood purification which reflects on skin health and protects the skin from ageing by fighting against free radicals. It also increases the production of red blood cells, hence increasing haemoglobin levels in the body.

Recipe:

Ingredients:

*all proportions should be fairly equal

  • 1 Apple (red) - I would recommend Fuji as they are both sweet and tart, however, you could use whichever you prefer
  • 1 Carrot (orange)
  • 1 Beetroot (purple)

Directions:

Wash and peel the ingredients and put them through a juicer or blender. Then strain the juice. Use more apples if you want the juice to be sweeter. If you particularly do not enjoy the taste of beetroots you can always add some lemon and mint, pink salt or even chaat masala. Drink during any time of the day, I usually drink at night so I can brush my teeth after.
